SCAE Certified Basic Barista

Precondition is 6 months documented work experience in the coffee business, either at a Café/Coffee bar or at a roaster/merchant.

The barista has tol pass a written examination which is arranged of 3 segments:

1. Basic coffee knowledge including cultivation, processing, grading, roasting and tasting.
2. Basic knowledge of preparation including the theory of extraction and elemantary extraction processes.
3. Basic espresso knowledge including machine and grinder as well as its application, coffee, brewing and various beverages. Additional easy practical tests will be part of this segment.

Prices for the Certification as SCAE Basic Barista (Level 1):

• 50 € for SCAE-Members
• 60 € for Non-SCAE-Members

Participants are recommended to attend a seminar or a Preparatory Course at a SCAE accepted learning centre before the Barista certification. We recommend additional to the preparatory course our Barista-Workshop Senior+, the Coffee-Workshop and the Preparation-Workshop for a comprehensive preparation for the barista certification. The participants have to pay the dues before the examination whether they pass  or fail.
